Our Philosophy & Aims

We provide a Home for our residents based on the privileges and responsibilities of family life, caring and being cared for, living in harmony with the added advantage of being relieved of many of the burdens of everyday life and yet still being part of the community. Our aim is to support residents with the activities of daily life to the level they desire and to the standard they deserve.

Facilities

The Home consists of three large houses at the upper end of Shirley Avenue, now remodelled to form a single self-contained unit. In the main building we can accommodate 26 residents in 12 single rooms and seven double rooms, some with en-suite facilities. All rooms have central heating and double glazing. Residents may choose from four separate lounges, each with a dining area where meals are also served. Each of the three houses has a stairlift. We also have four bathrooms, two showers and two hydraulic bath hoists. A full complementary laundry service is provided. Separate from the main building is a purpose built apartment block known as Stanwell Apartments.

Stanwell Apartments

The Apartments have been built on land to the rear of the main building and they front onto Howards Grove which runs parallel to Shirley Avenue. Stanwell Apartments consist of eight self-contained apartments with a communal lounge and other communal facilities. There is a stairlift. Residents of the Apartments can enjoy, with the help of Stanwell's own staff, the highest levels of privacy and choice.

The Apartments are Registered as part of the Care Home and therefore it is possible for residents to receive personal care from Stanwell staff whenever it may be needed 24 hours, seven days a week.

Outside, the large gardens are laid mainly to lawn surrounded by mature trees and shrubs. The patio areas are available for use in favourable weather. Telephone facilities are available to all, with some residents having their own personal telephone. Personal items of furniture and belongings are encouraged.

Menu

A full and varied menu offering a selection of choices is provided on a daily basis all expertly and freshly cooked on the premises. We can cater for special diets. Breakfast may be taken in bed, in room or in the dining area in each lounge. Beverages may be made
by the residents themselves at most times. Mid-morning coffee is served at 10.00 am, lunch at noon, afternoon tea at 3.30 pm
and the evening meal at 5.00 pm.
Evening drinks and snacks are offered at 7.30 pm and further
beverages are available throughout the night.

Staff

Experienced staff, recruited for their caring attitude and high standards of professionalism are available 24 hours.
Continuous professional development is encouraged and all staff receive
regular training in clinical care, personal development and health
and safety to enable them to provide for every level of care necessary.
