These eight purpose-built, self-contained apartments share a communal lounge and dining area, and provide residents with the benefits of full twenty-four hour care with the highest levels of independence and privacy
Our home, your home
We provide a kind and considerate home for our residents, based on the privileges and responsibilities of family life; of living in harmony, of caring and being cared for. We warmly encourage the familiarity of residents’ own personal items of furniture and belongings
On leafy Shirley Avenue, in Southampton, four large Edwardian houses have been remodelled into a single fully-accessible home
All our rooms are centrally heated and double glazed. We have en-suite, double and single rooms and self-contained serviced apartments. Private telephone lines are available
Residents can move freely between four individual lounges, each with its own dining area. Each house has its own stair-lift and bathroom with hydraulic hoist
Outside, you can wander through our large gardens of lawn and patio, surrounded by mature trees and shrubs
Stanwell Apartments
To the rear of the main building, with an entrance on Howard’s Grove, lie Stanwell Apartments
Who We Are
Throughout the main house and the apartments, trained staff are on hand twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week

What We Do
We have a dedicated activities co-ordinator, who plans and organises free recreational activities within and outside the home. We aim to support residents in their daily lives, encouraging independence within a caring community
We’ve recently enjoyed afternoon teas, a garden party, picnics, a tea dance and photographic, fashion and cosmetics parties. We regularly host local musicians and animal shows
We have the facility to hire a minibus and take regular trips out to attractions such as Southsea, the New Forest, Marwell Zoo and the theatre. We also like to visit places of childhood relevance or simply go for a walk into town or to the local park
We play quizzes, quoits, board games, memory games, jigsaws, read books, compile scrap books, sew and watch film shows. We offer seasonal arts and crafts such as making Easter bonnets or Christmas cards and stockings
Newspapers are available for delivery by our local newsagent
Visiting Services
The home is served by several local GP surgeries. Residents may keep their existing doctor or transfer to one nearer the home
Visiting services include dentists, community nurses, social workers, physiotherapists, chiropodists, and other health professionals
We can accompany you to church and have a visiting church service once a month. Ministers may visit as requested
We have visiting local, skilled and experienced providers of hair-dressing, nail painting, facials and hand massage. They make a separate charge for their services
Following this report, we immediately set to work rectifying all required changes. We welcome the feedback and strive constantly to improve the service we provide
